Beautiful Soul From Cynthia Layne

Cynthia Layne’s video in which she sings her song, “We,” is simple yet elegant, just like the singer. Shot only in black and white, the video is stylish, yet it does not distract the viewer from the most important element of this production, that being Layne’s effortless, luxurious vocals. The gifted vocalist deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Anita Baker and Patti LaBelle.

Layne discusses the creation of the video, “We got together with Ross Simpson, who has his own video company. We told him that we wanted to do something simple and very clean, because the song (“We) is very simple. We decided to do it in black and white to keep it simple. We didn’t want a lot of action going on in it, since it is my first video.

Email The Editor

The Art of Refreshment with Mighty Leaf Iced Tea

Toronto’s  Brown, will soon join an elite group of female singer / songwriters, such as Alanis Morissette, Alannah Myles (“Black Velvet”), Sarah Slean and Shania Twain, in being recognized as Canada’s next diva. After previewing, some select tracks from Brown’s soon to be released album The Love Chronicles, and meeting with her on Canada’s west coast, in the city of Vancouver, it became increasingly clear, that Brown will soon outgrow the smaller Canadian market. The vocally gifted Brown, whose music mixes old skool R&B vibes, with soulful phrases, and modern beats, to inspire wiggling hips, jiggly butts and dancing feet, will eventually accomplish what she has already done in Canada, which is, to light up the airwaves and stages across America.

The Emotions, Still Giving Us, The Best Of Their Love

Early in 2008, the musical Emotional Memory will launch in Chicago, after a successful run earlier this year in England. It will chronicle the lives of The Emotions, whose music, particularly during the 1970’s reigned over the R&B charts in the United States, and rose to the top of the pop charts in the U.K and America. Comprised of the three Hutchinson sisters, Wanda, Sheila and Pamela, The Emotions, are best known for their # 1 hit “Best Of My Love,” (1977), however they were far from being a one hit wonder, with top ten song, “Boogie Wonderland,” a 1979 collaboration with Earth, Wind & Fire, # 6 R&B hit, “Smile,” and # 7 R&B hit “Don’t Ask My Neighbors.”  They also recorded the popular “Flowers,” “Shouting Out Love,” and “Stealing Love.”  Their songs were not only chart stoppers in America, but were power hits in the U.K as well.  The Emotions have also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
