Internationally Renowned Percussionist Jim Brock Gives Us A Few Pointers

 

When playing with a click track, the proper mix is very important. The desired tempo can be deceiving if the volume of the click is too loud, thus making it hard to stay with. 

When setting up a click, it may be good to pick sounds that aren't in the kit, and ones that will cut through the track. The easier the sound is to hear, the less volume needed for it to be heard.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jim Brock has proven to be an innovator in the world of drums and percussion. Within his forty-five year career, he has appeared on literally hundreds of recordings with artists such as Joe Walsh, Joan Baez, Kathy Mattea, Joe Cocker, Janis Ian, River Phoenix, and James McMurtry. Jim Brock also received an Emmy Award nomination for his work as the composer for the documentary, The Spirit of Sacajawea.
