Sweet Lizzy Project, New Single: Sticky Situations |
Sometimes it is
about timing with a band or a solo artist getting their big break in
music and that time seemed to have arrived last Feburary for Cuba’s
Sweet Lizzy Project (now living in Nashville), fronted by singer Lisset
Díaz.
Their debut North American album Technicolor was about to be
released and an extensive tour throughout the United States was booked.
Like so many other performing artists their tour was canceled, gigs
became non-existent and COVID-19 turned their world upside down.
That could have
been the death knell for the band, but instead Díaz,
guitar virtuoso Miguel Comas, keyboardist Wilfredo Gatell, Alejandro
Gonzalez (bass) and drummer Angel Luis Millet, adapted and started
staging en casa (in house) virtual concerts with amazingly good sound
quality. More amazingly their fanbase continued to grow. They have
presented close to one hundred concerts, so it is not surprising then to
learn that Sweet Lizzy Project has been working on a new collection of
songs, including the single they are about to release, “Sticky
Situations.”
The song, which
will be released on October 16, may be the most Rock oriented song of
all their original tunes. Featuring a spectacular 15 second guitar solo
by Comas and a chorus that bites, “I live a series of sticky
situations / And I keep dreaming about the perfect life / You say I need
to find some kind of motivation / But I can’t stand your condenscending
smile…” the song showcases once again the stellar vocals of Lisset Díaz,
who may be the most emotive and versatile singer on the music scene
today. She is capably supported by the excellent musicianship of Gatell,
Gonzalez and Millet.
“Sticky
Situations,” was co-written by Díaz,
Comas and Raul Malo and the song was mastered by Greg Calbi.
On October 16 on Sweet Lizzy Project’s
official Facebook page the band will host a virtual
concert and you will be dancing in your homes and hopefully soon in
venues to one 2020’s best Rock songs "Sticky Situations."
